Privacy Policy

1. Scope of This Policy

This Policy applies to information processed through the Service, including the web application, its API endpoints, and associated features (text input, voice input, language selection, tip/donation flows, and locally stored history). It does not apply to third-party websites or services that may be linked from the Service, which are governed by their own privacy policies.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Situation text.The description you type or dictate is transmitted to our AI provider solely to generate a response (a "Screwed %", verdict, roast lines, and survival tip).
• Voice recordings. If you use the microphone feature, your audio is transmitted to our speech-to-text provider for transcription and is not retained by us after the transcription is returned.
• Feedback submissions. If you use the in-app feedback form, the message you write is sent via your own email client directly to us; we receive only what you choose to include.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Approximate location. On page load, we query a third-party IP-geolocation service to infer your country and, within India, your state, in order to select a sensible default interface language. This lookup is performed client-side and the resulting location data is not stored or transmitted to our servers.
• Standard server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may log standard technical data (IP address, request timestamps, user agent) for security, abuse prevention, and infrastructure operation, consistent with their own privacy practices.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not require account registration, and we do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment card details. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics scripts.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information described above solely to:

• Generate the AI response you requested;
• Transcribe voice input into text, at your request;
• Select a reasonable default display language;
• Respond to feedback or support requests you send us;
• Maintain the security, integrity, and availability of the Service.

We do not use your situation text to train AI models, build behavioral profiles, or serve targeted advertising, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage, Retention & Local History

Fate-O-Tron does not operate a database of user accounts or submissions. Your "Past Fortunes" history — including situation text, results, and feedback ratings you give — is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (localStorage) on your own device. This data is never transmitted to our servers, is not accessible to us, and persists only until you clear it (via the in-app "clear" control) or clear your browser's site data.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share information only with the following categories of service providers, and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their function:

• AI infrastructure providers — to process situation text and generate responses.
• Speech-to-text providers — to transcribe voice input, when used.
• IP-geolocation providers — to infer a default display language.
• Payment processors (UPI apps, Ko-fi) — only if you voluntarily choose to send a tip; we do not receive or store your payment credentials.
• Hosting infrastructure (Vercel) — to serve the Service to you.

We may also disclose information where required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Trinoflow, our users, or the public.

6. Data Security

We rely on industry-standard security practices provided by our infrastructure and API partners, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Because we do not maintain accounts or server-side records of your submissions, most data protection rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) apply directly at the browser level — you can view, export, or delete your local history at any time through the Service interface or your browser settings. If you have questions about a specific interaction or believe information about you has been mishandled, contact us using the details in Section 12.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, individuals under the age of 13. The AI-generated content is written in a sarcastic, occasionally blunt tone that is not appropriate for young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

9. International Data Transfers

The Service is operated from India. The third-party providers described in Section 5 may process data on servers located outside India. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing of information as described in this Policy.

10. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The only browser-side storage mechanism used by the Service is localStorage, described in Section 4, which is used exclusively to remember your own Past Fortunes history on your own device.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
